The valve has a plate-like valve element (48) with at least an inner convex curved valve cover (48a) and at least an outer preferably convex curved valve cover (48b) which at normal temperatures are connected together to form the one valve plate whilst a meltable solder (50) or similar is provided which is dissolved at raised temperatures so that the inner cover moves in the axial direction of the pipeline to close the opening cross-section of same. The inner valve cover can be moved by spring force into the closing position whilst the outer valve cover retains its position.
