PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute this distance measuring method by improving the relation between the precision to be achieved and required cost and improving, in particular, required number of pulses and required measurement time so as to achieve high distance measurement precision by small number of pulses, even by one pulse. SOLUTION: An input signal (e) is compared with a comparison function to detect at least one receive time point. This comparison function is an example value shifted by various different time intervals of a reference function (r) which is previously detected and memorized to detect a receive time point at least approximately based on the time interval corresponding to the most approximate comparison function.
