The invention relates to a chemical compound that is neutrally synthesized. The inventive compound can, in conjunction with an organometallic compound, form a novel catalyst system that can be advantageously used for polymerizing olefins. According to the invention, it is possible to attain a high degree of catalyst activity while forgoing the use of aluminum oxane, such as methyl aluminum oxane (MAO), as a cocatalyst.
