PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability of equipment by accurately retrieving a target file by selecting the file number of the highest importance in a file number range set on the basis of the number of rotation steps obtained by operation. SOLUTION: According to the number of steps obtained by operation done on a jog dial, an increase from a file number #4 is made by +44 steps and the file having a file number #48 is selected. Then a next procedure 4 is followed to set a file number of 48-A1<=48<=48+A2 based upon the reference file number #48. By a following procedure 5, file numbers included in the file number range set by the procedure 4 are regarded as candidates to be selected and the file number given the highest importance is retrieved from the file numbers as the candidates to be selected.
