<p>A method for preparing an Ag-ZnO type electric contact material comprising subjecting an Ag-Zn alloy prepared by melting and casting a mixture of Ag and Zn in a predetermined proportion to an internal oxidation treatment to thereby disperse ZnO into Ag, characterized in that a molten and cast product of an Ag-Zn alloy having a Zn content of 5 to 10 wt % in terms of metal weight, the balance of the alloy being Ag, is divided into pieces, the pieces are subjected to an internal oxidation treatment, the treated pieces are collected and subjected to a compression molding to form a billet, and the billet, after being subjected to a compression processing and a sintering treatment, is subjected to an extrusion processing, so that ZnO is dispersed homogeneously into Ag. The method can be used for preparing an Ag-ZnO type electric contact material having a ZnO dispersed into Ag more homogeneously, which exhibits improved resistance to melt deposition and consumption while maintaining low contact resistance, with a suitable preparation cost.</p> |
