Fuel pellets comprise a core of solid fuel surrounded by a protective coating. An Independent claim is also included for production of the fuel pellets by: (a) either producing cores of solid fuel and drying the cores or charging a coating vessel with preformed cores; and (b) coating the cores with a protective material.
