Measurement of the deviation of a bore hole from its nominal direction using a probe encapsulated above the bore head with sensors for inclination, depth and compass direction and a memory for recording data as a function of time

Procedure uses a probe (8) encapsulated above the bore head with sensors to periodically determine the inclination of the bore head, to determine its rotation relative to a compass bearing and likewise to determine the drill depth. After drilling is ended the drill pipe, probe and bore head are removed from the bore hole and time dependent data from the probe memory is downloaded to a computer.
