The invention relates to a method for producing a composition containing gol d and/or silver particles and an amorphous, organically inorganic mixed oxide of titanium and silicon. The invention also relates to the compositions which c an be produced according to this method, in addition to the use thereof as catalysts for the selective oxidation of hydrocarbons in the presence of molecular oxygen and a reducing agent.
