PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an AV(audio and/or video) server provided with a compressor which can compress AV signals at a variable compression rate to reduce the rate of noise in compressed AV signals over all compression rates of the compressor. SOLUTION: In the input port 2 of an AV server 1, a low-pass filter 2A which performs band restriction on inputted AV signals and has a variable cut-off frequency, a compressing means 2B which compresses the AV signals band-restricted by means of the filter 2A at a variable compression rate, and a control means 2D which raises or lowers the cut-off frequency in accordance with the level of the compression rate of the compressing means 2P are provided.
