PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing roller cleaning method by which toner adhering to a fixing roller is removed at a low cost without stopping ordinary image forming operation. SOLUTION: This method includes a cleaning stage in which the toner 4 transferred from a heating roller 1 to the surface of a pressure roller 2 is melted by the roller 1, the melted toner is transferred to the surface of the roller 1 again and the toner transferred to the roller 1 again is removed by a cleaning means 7. The toner 4 transferred on the roller 1 is completely heated and melted at a nip part and its wettability to a cleaning web 7 gets higher than that of the offset toner 4 adhering to the roller 1 in the midst of the ordinary image forming operation, so that it easily adheres to the web 7. The toner 4 reaching the web 7 slides in contact with the web 7 and adheres to the web 7, and it is removed from the roller 1.
