PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of a portable optical information reader. SOLUTION: In the case of writing bar code data stored in a RAM 50d into a flash memory 50c in the portable optical information reader, an auxiliary power supply 48 of the RAM 50d is switched to a main power supply 60 and power is supplied from the main power supply 90 also to a CPU 50a and the memory 50c. Since the power supply capacity for storing the contents of the RAM 50d for a period from the OFF of a main power supply control part 66 by the CPU 50a up to the ON of the main power supply 66 by a timer 50e is sufficient as the power supply capacity of the auxiliary power supply 48, the size of the reader can be reduced by adopting a compact auxiliary power supply. |
