PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the loss of reception data and to maintain the certainty of communication by controlling a system so that reception data are prevented from being printed and they are stored in a storage means when the recording paper of a size which is not fitted for the recording of a facsimile reception picture is set. SOLUTION: When setting for executing copying by using the recording paper of a small size different from recording paper for facsimile reception picture recording is selected, when 'postcard copy mode' is selected, for example, a recording device stores 'postcard copy mode', turns on a prescribed flag, stores reception data in a memory (RAM) in a control part 401 without printing it when the recording device receives data at the reception mode of facsimile. When the flag is turned off after reception terminates, the 'postcard copy mode' is released and data stored in the memory are printed.
