PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To melt a desired weight of metal without cutting a lump of metal by providing an elevator for hoisting a lump of a metal material to be melted by a melting device to vertically moving the metal above, and providing a metering unit for metering the material in a hoisting state. SOLUTION: A tap hole 3a projected from one position of an upper portion of a crucible 3 toward obliquely upward direction is provided. An elevator 8 inserted into a melting apparatus 1 by hoisting a metal material 6 and a metering device 9 for metering the hoisted material are provided. In the case of melting a lighter weight metal material than the material 6 by the apparatus 1, the material 6 is hoisted by the elevator 8. An induction coil 2 is energized in such a state that the material inserted into a crucible 3 of the apparatus 1 is hoisted and is induction melted. A weight of the melted and dissipated material 6 is metered by the device 9, and a predetermined weight of the material 6 is melted with dissipating weight equal to melting weight, and hence desired weight of the material 6 is melted. The residual material 6 is lifted out of the crucible 3 of the apparatus 1 by the elevator.
