When an operator sets processing conditions, a controller (1) estimates the load factor of a laser oscillator (2) based on the set conditions and displays the load factor in the form of a check bar (8) on a display device (3). While watching the check bar (8), the operator adjusts the processing conditions so that the load factor of the laser oscillator (2) may fall within a predetermined range. As a result, the laser oscillator (2) is protected from excessive load during an actual processing.
