According to the invention an alarm unit is brought into a conditional state of alarm as soon as the current supply to the caravan or car trailer is disconnected. If next the current supply is restored, or if the caravan is moved, the alarm unit is brought into a state of alarm. The protection system is controlled with a remote control unit. <IMAGE>
