The appliance (1) transfers a set volume of a viscous fluid from a storage vessel into a container. The storage vessel (2) has a discharge valve (3) closed by a moveable valve rod (4). The valve is sealed relative to the storage vessel via a moveable sleeve (5) inside the vessel. The sleeve contains a relatively moving piston (6), which sucks the fluid from the vessel into the sleeve, and discharges it from the sleeve through the valve. Valve rod, sleeve, and piston are moveable independently of each other/ .
