PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically select other broadcast programs by avoiding the effect of suppression by the broadcast programs of near broadcast stations in the case of conducting local seek. SOLUTION: A microcomputer 18 executes a seek function that shifts the frequency of a local oscillator 17 by a prescribed frequency each until a broadcast wave with a channel selection level or over is received according to an automatic channel selection instruction received via an operation panel 24. In the case that the microcomputer 18 receives a write-on signal, the microcomputer 18 controls a gain controller 22 to decrease the channel selection sensitivity of a broadcast wave in performing the local seek function. However, in the case an electric field strength detector 21 detects the suppression by near broadcast stations, the microcomputer 18 turns off a switch 23 not to decrease the channel selection sensitivity of the broadcast wave.
