<p>A method, and apparatus for interosseous bone fixation uses a compression U-shaped staple (11) having a pair of legs (13) with sharp front ends (15), proximal ends interconnect by a bridge portion (17) that is resilient, and bowed; the staple (11) having initial configuration, and capable of a tensioned configuration by spreading apart the legs (13) causing a curvature of the bridge (17) to lessen; and the legs (13) urged towards each other. A staple applicator (29) supports, and guides the staple (11).</p> |
