The invention relates to effervescent tablets which are characterized by having a good tabletability, a high degree of initial hardnesses, and whose edges are not being prone to breaking. The inventive tablets contain one or more organic acids, or one or more substances selected from the group of carbonates and/or hydrogen carbonates, and optionally contain other constituents consisting of washing and cleaning agents, as well as 2 to 20 wt. % of one or more water-soluble substances with a melting point ranging from 40 to 100 DEG C. These tablets preferably include a content of substances selected from the group 1,10-decandiol, trimethylol propane, epsilon -caprolactam, glutaric acid or ammonium sodium hydrogenphosphate tetrahydrate ("phosphorous salt").
