The sensor arrangement detects the revolution rate of at least one rotating part and the direction of rotation. It has a sensor (3) and a ring (2) concentrically fixed to the axially movable rotating part (1). The ring has alternating polarity magnets (6) with trapezoidal pole faces. The magnets are arranged so that the width of each two magnets forming a pole pair is equal for all displacement distances.
