摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium that retains good electromagnetic transducing characteristics even when the increase of recording density is further promoted. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium has a lower magnetic layer and a coating type upper magnetic layer adjacent to the lower magnetic layer on a substrate, a ferromagnetic powder contained in the upper magnetic layer is oriented in a horizontal direction and the upper and lower magnetic layers have such magnetic characteristics that magnetic poles formed in the upper magnetic layer and magnetic poles formed in the upper part of the lower magnetic layer when magnetic recording is carried out in both the magnetic layers are out of alignment in the recording direction.
