PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnet roller having enhanced accuracy of position of magnetic poles, giving enhanced image quality and suitable particularly for forming a color image. SOLUTION: The magnet roller has a body part 2 with recesses 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d formed on the outer surface along the axial direction and resin magnets 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d using a magnetic rare earth powder having >=5 kG residual magnetic flux density disposed in the recesses 4a-4d. The body part 2 is based on a material having <=50 kgf/mm2 tensile strength.
