PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a beam-condensing unit without reducing light quantity and capable of being realized with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: This beam-condensing unit is constituted so that luminous flux emitted from a light source 1 is reflected on an integrator mirror 6 obtained by arranging plural total reflection mirrors 6a, 6b...6n whose size are identical to a liquid crystal panel 5 or smaller than it and parallel light beams are condensed at the panel 5. Thus, the attenuation of light conventionally occurring when the light is transmitted through a lens group is eliminated. Besides, since the light beams are condensed without being converged by a lens, chromatic aberration is reduced. Since the lens group is not used, the structure of the device is simplified and made advantageous in terms of cost. Since the whole surface of the panel 9 is irradiated with the light beams from the plural total reflection mirrors, peripheral light quantity ratio is improved. By utilizing the plural light sources, the light quantity can easily be increased and the panel 9 can be irradiated with the more uniform light beams. Besides, the peripheral light quantity ratio is more improved.
