<p>The invention relates to a method for positioning an electric control signal (S1, S1bis) of an electro-optic modulator (5) in relation to the characteristic (VA, VB) of said modulator (5), whereby a disturb signal (S2, S2bis) is superposed onto the control signal (S1, S1bis) and the positioning of the control signal (S1, S1bis) is adjusted according to the value of a component of the output signal of the modulator (5) corresponding to the disturbance thus introduced (S2, S2bis). According to the inventive method, the disturbance (S2, S2bis) is superposed onto the control signal (S1, S1bis) when it attains a value (Va) corresponding to a point (A) of the minimum slope of the characteristic and the positioning of the control signal (S1,S1bis) is adjusted in such a way that the amplitude of the output disturbance due to the disturbance of the control signal (S1,S1bis) is minimized. The inventive method is characterized in that the characteristic of the modulator (5) comprises a second point (B) with a minimum slope corresponding to the second control level (VB), and in that a second disturbance (f2) is applied to the control signal (S1,S1bis) when it is located at a second control level (VB). The invention is further characterized in that the positioning of the control signal (S1,S1bis) and the amplitude (VPI) of the control signal (S1,S1 bis) are adjusted at the same time, whereby both output disturbances which are respectively due to the disturbances applied to the first (VA) and second (VB) control level are minimized.</p> |
