The device has a voltage regulator (100) for feeding a drive voltage for a compressor (400) a stroke computation unit (800) for receiving a voltage and a current detected by a voltage and current sensor (300) when the compressor is being driven and computing a stroke from them, a collision detection sensor (500) for detecting a vibration at a time at which a piston collides with an outlet valve when the compressor is being driven. The device also has a collision detection unit (600) for detecting whether an abnormal signal is generated based on the vibration detected by the sensor, a microcomputer (700) for determining a control demand stroke based on the computed stroke and a drive unit (900) for outputting a corresp. voltage drive signal to the voltage regulator. An Independent claim is also included for a power control method for a linear compressor.
