Object holding devices (10) each include a threaded shank portion (11) for being threadably received into a stable support or structure (23) such as a wooden ceiling joist or wall stud. A supporting member (24) is configured to accept the object to be held to support or suspend the object from the stable support. A cross member (12) extends between the threaded shank portion and the support member. The holding device (10) is made by threading the shank portion (11), providing a support member (24), and extending a cross member between the shank portion (11) and the support portion (24).
