The inkjet printing system (10) includes an inkjet print head (16) which responds to control signals to selectively deposit ink on a medium, and an ink delivery system which responds to an actuation of an actuator to deliver a pressurized ink reserve (18) to the print head. The pressurized ink reserve delivered by the ink delivery system is disconnected from the inkjet print head. An alternative ink supply is directly connected to the print head, to deliver to it an alternative ink which is different from that of the pressurized reserve. An alternative fluid tube is connected between the fluid line and the print head.
