摘要 PURPOSE: A device for monitoring a frequency and an optical output using a temperature-controlling etalon filter in a WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) optical transmission system is provided to use a solid etalon filter capable of controlling a temperature in the WDM optical transmission system, to monitor a frequency and an optical output of each channel. CONSTITUTION: An optical distributor distributes multiplexed input optical signals. A solid etalon filter having resonant frequencies receives the distributed optical signals, to pass only a predetermined frequency range according to a temperature. A thermistor is fixed on the etalon filter to measure a temperature of the etalon filter). A thermoelectric cooler is coupled to the filter to cool the filter. A temperature controller controls the currents of the thermoelectric cooler, to control a temperature of the filter. An optical output measurer measures the strength of the optical signals passing the etalon filter, to calculate the frequency and optical output of the optical signals. And the resonant frequencies of the etalon filter controls the temperature of the etalon filter through the temperature controller.
