PURPOSE: A ropeless elevator is provided to freely move horizontally and vertically inside a three-dimensional passageway prepared in a building and to simultaneously operate plural cages in the passageway. CONSTITUTION: A passageway(10) is connected vertically and horizontally for operating simultaneously plural cages(40). A primary coil(30) for horizontal movement and plural coils(20) for vertical movement are mounted along an inner side face of the passageway. For avoiding application of magnetic force inward of the cage and for moving the cage by magnetic action between the cages corresponding to the secondary coil(30) for horizontal movement and to the primary coil(20) for vertical movement, a pair of secondary magnet assembly bodies(A) are composed in upper and lower areas of cage. The secondary magnet assembly body(A) is arranged at an isolated location from the cage as to be out of influence of magnetic force and with no harm to human body. Thereby, an additional magnetic shielding instrument is unnecessary and transformation by outer force is prevented. Accordingly light weight of cage is enabled and balance of cage is maintained.
