The miniature optical component has a lower platform section with surface grooves (4) holding fibre optic cables (5). A cent area holds a substrate chip (1) with optical waveguides (2). The platform section surface (3) is hollow and has hole connections areas (30), and the chip section has protruding button sections (10) which match with the holes and slide the upper chip section into place on the lower platform, to assemble the optical components.
