PURPOSE: A call converting method of an ISDN(Integrated Services Digital Network) exchange is provided to perform a call conversion operation by using a key pad information element. Therefore, a call conversion can be performed in an ISDN telephone which does not support a holding function and a call conversion function. CONSTITUTION: If a user An inputs an information element for a call conversion(S12), a CPU generates dial tones displaying a conversion sound and a holding sound by using a tone generator. The generated conversion sound is supplied to the first ISDN(Integrated Services Digital Network) telephone, and the holding sound is supplied to the second ISDN telephone(S13). If the user An inputs a telephone number of the third ISDN telephone(S14), the CPU analyzes the telephone number, and calls the third ISDN telephone by using a complex frequency generator(S16). If a user C of the third ISDN telephone responds, the CPU controls a switching circuit, and forms a communication path between the first ISDN telephone and the third ISDN telephone(S17). If the user An of the first ISDN telephone hangs up a telephone in a state that the communication path is formed, the CPU controls the switching circuit, and releases the communication path between the first ISDN telephone and the third ISDN telephone(S18). The CPU forms a communication path between the second ISDN telephone and the third ISDN telephone, and forms a communication state between a user B and the user C(S19).
