PURPOSE: Temperature setting method is provided to offer cold air in beginning by driving after resetting a desired temperature with comparing a predetermined temperature with present indoor temperature before stop at a moment of input of an operational button in an air conditioner. CONSTITUTION: A user inputs an operational button and a preset desired temperature is considered to be low than a current temperature. A preestablished desired temperature is lower than a current indoor temperature, a preset desired temperature is set to a current desired temperature. The current indoor temperature is lower than a primary set temperature then the current indoor temperature is over a secondary set temperature lower than the primary set temperature. In case the current indoor temperature is lower than the secondary preset temperature, the current indoor temperature is over a tertiary set temperature lower than the secondary set temperature. If current indoor temperature is lower than the tertiary set temperature, a cooling desired temperature is set to a tertiary desired temperature lower than a secondary desired temperature. Thereby, in case of preestablished desired temperature higher than a current indoor temperature, cooling operation is performed based on a desired temperature preestablished since operational condition is under cooling mode where the compressor is operated.
