PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a rotary coupler to perform a high-quality data transfer which is not affected by a noise or contact wear by providing the coupler with optical fibers, ferrules, a ferrule fixing means, bearings and revolving shafts. SOLUTION: The rotary coupler comprises the optical fibers 1, the ferrules 2, the ferrule fixing means 5, the bearings 4 and the revolving shaft 3. The optical fibers 1 are mainly composed of quartz or a resin, such as plastic. The ferrules 2 are mainly formed of metal and are fixed to the optical fibers 1 to spatially couple the optical fibers 1. The revolving shafts 3 may be rotated relative to each other and in separate directions. The ferrules 2 and the revolving shafts 3 are fixed by the ferrule fixing means 5. The optical fibers 1 protected by the ferrules 2 are spatially coupled by such constitution and since infinite rotation is made possible by the bearings 4, the light signals passing the inside of the optical fibers 1 can be transmitted in an infinite rotation system.
