PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for use of a remote controller for remote control of message reproduction or the like and for entry of a password and to reduce a speech charge at remote control with respect to a communication terminal with a remote control function. SOLUTION: When a phone call reaches an automatic telephone answering unit (S11), the telephone set uses a caller telephone number reception service to discriminate whether or not a caller telephone number is registered in a RAM (S13, S14), and if the caller telephone number is registered (S14: YES), remote control of the automatic telephone answering unit is made available (S15). Since whether or not remote control of the automatic telephone answering unit is permitted is discriminated on the basis of the caller telephone number, remote control is permitted for a specific person without the need of using a remote controller and entry of a password or the like.
