PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display is provided to exactly pattern a pixel electrode according to a desired intension by preventing a pattern badness from being generated at an edge of a pixel electrode and therein when forming the pixel electrode on a passivation film. CONSTITUTION: A passivation film(126) is formed on a substrate(111) where a data bus line(115), a gate bus line, and a switching element are formed. A photoresist is coated on the passivation film and is developed so as to have a predetermined shape. The passivation film and the photoresist(151) are dry etched according to the developed pattern, so that one terminal(115b) of the switching element is exposed and the photoresist remains at the surface of the passivation film at a portion except for an exposed portion of the switching element. After removing the photoresist remaining at the surface of the passivation film, a pixel electrode is formed on the passivation film(126).
