PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the removal rate of hazardous materials with a discharge photocatalyst reaction. SOLUTION: The hazardous materials in the air 7 to be purified are converted to plus ions by the corona discharge at electrodes 9 and 10 and hydronium ions are formed from the moisture in the air to be purified by introducing the air 7 to be purified into a case 1 from an inlet 2 in the state of irradiating photocatalysts 5 and 6 with the UV rays of a wavelength 352 nm generated from a UV lamp 4. The hazardous materials converted to the plus ions are well adsorbed to the photocatalysts 6 and 7 and the hydronium ions neutralize the electrons induced in the transmission band from the valence band of the photocatalysts 5 and 6, thereby preventing the recombination of these electrons and the valance band. An air filter 15 removes the suspended dust in the air described above. |
