PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing (S)-ibuprofen at a low cost. SOLUTION: Microorganisms having enantioselective biodegrading ability of (R)-ibuprofen are immobilized on the surface of a hydrophilic immobilizing carrier, and an organic solvent containing racemic ibuprofen and substantially insoluble or slightly soluble in water is brought into contact with the immobilized microorganisms on the surface of the carrier in the presence of an aqueous medium containing nutrient for the microorganisms to provide the objective (S)-ibuprofen.
