PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rocker arm attaching structure provided with a thrust washer which facilitates assembling operation. SOLUTION: In a rocker arm attaching structure of an engine, a rocker shaft is attached to a cylinder head. A rocker arm 12 has a shaft portion 12a through which the rocker shaft is inserted. A wave washer is arranged between one end of the shaft portion of the rocker arm and the cylinder head. The rocker arm is always energized in a constant direction along the rocker shaft by the elasticity of the wave washer. In such a case, an locking means 17 is arranged for temporarily retaining a wave shaft 16 with respect to the shaft portion 12a in the state where the rocker arm 12 is detached from the rocker shaft.
