PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing reel capable of changing the lifting torque of a fishline, obtaining a proper lifting force adaptable to an object fish, and easily conducting a slight lifting of a fishline. SOLUTION: This fishing reel has a spool 11 mounted on a spool shaft 4 fixed to the reel body 1, a rotating operation unit 6 for rotatingly drive the spool 11, a 1st mechanism unit 17, a 2nd mechanism unit 18, and changeover mechanisms 19, 37, 40. The 1st mechanism unit 17 has the function to transmit the torque from the rotating operation unit 6 to the spool 11 and bring both the revolutions of the spool 11 and the rotating operation unit 6 to a specified proportion, the 2nd mechanism unit 18 has the function to transmit the torque from the rotating operation unit 6 to the spool 11 and bring both the revolutions of the spool 11 and the rotating operation unit 6 to a specified proportion different from that for the 1st mechanism unit 17, and the changeover mechanisms 19, 37, 40 have the function to transmit the torque from the rotating operation unit 6 either to the 1st mechanism unit 17 or to the 2nd mechanism unit 18.
