PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to prevent the secondary loss by a failure of bellows by providing a scraping device used for a centrifugal separator of a vertical basket type, etc., to carry out separation of solid from liquid with a detecting means for detecting the failure of the bellows by detecting the pressure in the bellows to cover the extension and contraction part of a scraping rod. SOLUTION: The centrifugal separator 50 of the vertical basket type has a basket 52 rotated by a rotational drive assembly and the scraping device 1 is included therein in order to scrap the cake sticking to the basket 52. The scraping device 1 has the scraping rod 3 liftably mounted at a main body 2 and its bottom end is provided with a scraper 4. The scraping rod 3 is provided with the bellows 5 in order to cover its extension and contraction part. The failure of the bellows 5 is detected from the result obtained by detecting the pressure in the bellows 5 by a bellows failure detecting means 6 including a slight differential pressure detector 13. An alarm signal is outputted and an alarm display 18 is operated when the failure of the bellows 5 is detected.
