PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compactly and inexpensively manufacture a sewing apparatus for copy sewing of an article to be sewn and to make copy sewing operation easy and efficient. SOLUTION: A copying device 6 is provided on the underside of a cradle 3 for supporting an article 2 to be sewn through connecting members 5. The copying device 6 is provided with a projected rail 11 coinciding with a sewing trail when a sewing needle provides a required sewing on the article 2 to be sewn and a stationary roller 21 and two movable rollers 22 and 22 arranged on its left and right for pinching the projected rail 11 from both sides. The movable rollers 22 and 22 are brought into press contact with the side face part 14 of the inside of the projected rail by an energizing means. The projected rail 11 pinched by means of inner and outer rollers is successively carried in the length direction by forcibly rotating the movable roller 22. The part 26 to be sewn of the article 2 to be sewn supported by the cradle 3 is successively introduced thereby to a sewing needle by copying the shape of the projected rail 11 in the length direction and is sewn.
