PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently reduce noise of a vacuum cleaner without thickening a sound absorbing material nor increasing the weight. SOLUTION: A motor fan 40 is mounted in a motor room 22 formed inside this vacuum cleaner main body, and a sound absorbing material 50 for controlling the noise generated from the motor fan 40 or in the air intake/outlet is mounted in the motor room 22 and an exhaust room 23. The sound absorbing material 50 consists of layers of a first sound absorbing member 51 and a second sound absorbing member 53 which is a thin film thinner than the first sound absorbing member and has a little air-permeability. The sound absorbing material 50 is disposed with the second sound absorbing member 53 facing the side on which air is blown.
