PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water absorbable article having a high water absorbing speed, much in amt. of water absorption and excellent even in the fixing property of a swollen gel after water absorption. SOLUTION: In a water absorbable article constituted of a water absorbing material wherein water absorbable polymer particles are fixed on the single surface of a fibrous substrate so as to absorb an aq. liquid through the fibrous substrate, the water absorbing material is produced through a process wherein the water absorbable polymer particles are bonded to the single surface of the fibrous substrate on the way of gaseous phase polymn.
