PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a raising time, to extend a life, to achieve low power consumption and low noise and to suppress temperature raising even when a small and comparatively low cost motor is used for an LSM in an image recorder. SOLUTION: This image recorder comprises a laser light emitting section, a polygon mirror for deflecting a laser beam, a laser scanner motor for rotating the polygon mirror and a CPU, a motor control circuit, a driving circuit 22 and a speed comparator for controlling the rotation of the motor. The motor is controlled by either one of first and second modes. In the first mode, a normal value that does not exceed a life of the motor which is predetermined based on a rotating number or a rotating time (S8), an accumulated time is counted while the motor is driven (S9), both of the times are compared with each other (S12) and the motor is driven to be rotated during the energizing time. In the second mode, the motor is stopped while an image is not recorded. |
