摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new cDNA comprising a cDNA of 4-coumaric acid: CoA ligase having a specific base sequence, and useful e.g. for the production of a transformant plant yielding a ligneous raw material improved in pulp digestibility and having growth characteristics equivalent to its wild type. SOLUTION: This new cDNA of 4-coumaric acid: CoA ligase has a base sequence of the formula and is useful e.g. for the production of a transformant plant yielding a ligneous raw material excellent in pulp digestibility and having growth characteristics equivalent to its wild type. The cDNA is obtained by extracting all RNAs from hypocotyls and foliage leaves derived from seedlings of Eucalyptus globulus, by synthesizing a cDNA using them and then by cloning a cDNA derived from Eucalyptus globulus by the polymerase chain reaction method (PCR) using as primers parts of a cDNA encoding the amino acid sequence from the region highly preserved exceeding vegetation in the amino acid sequence of 4-coumaric acid: CoA ligase found with respect to plants except eucalyptus.</p>
