PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject smoking article enabling smoking activities without putting others to annoyance and causing no environmental pollution. SOLUTION: This smoking article has such a scheme that a cigarette 3 is burnt inside a closed vessel to prevent sidestream smoke from leakage, and the sidestream smoke is cleaned together with exhaust gas in a cleaning chamber 11, the resulting gas thus cleaned is released via an exhaust port 10. In smoking activities, both inhalation and exhalation can be done with the identical mouthpiece 13 without being out of the mouth, causing no environmental pollution because of no gas leakage into the outside.
