PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To plan to automatically direct a tubular article such as stockings and the like by constituting the thick end of the tubular article to be capable of being held/released by a gap operation of a pair of filter valves aligned and arranged in a tubular chamber. SOLUTION: A tubular article 2 such as stockings and the like consisting of one thin end and another thick end is arranged in a tubular chamber 1 having an inlet I and an outlet U between two cascade type filter valves in an extended state so that the both ends 20 and 21 are positioned in the opposite to the filter valve 3, then, boundaries of the aforementioned filter valves 3 are set in a space through which solely the aforesaid thin end 20 can pass during operating the aforesaid filter valves 3, a part of the tubular article 2 including the aforesaid thin end 20 is carried to a branched unit 10 with an air flow from a suction device connected to the branched unit 10, subsequently the thick end 21 held with another filter valve 3 is released and the aforesaid tubular article 2 is directed by intentionally moving the article to either one of the direction toward the aforementioned branched unit 10 or the aligned direction of the filter valves 3.
