PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dobby loom effective for increasing the operation speed and decreasing the consumption of air. SOLUTION: The dobby loom is provided with a balk plate 8 having engaging hooks 12a, 12b at both ends and swinging by the pushing force of a push bar 10 interlocked with the loom, a pair of leading levers 14a, 14b each having respective holding hooks 15a, 15b engaging with the engaging hooks 12a, 12b of the plate 8 and a hydraulic cylinder 17x separately pushing the leading levers 14a, 14b to control the engagement and release of the engaging hooks 12a, 12b and the holding hooks 15a, 15b. Since each of the leading levers 14a, 14b for a single balk plate 8 is provided with a hydraulic cylinder 17x, the leading levers 14a, 14b are independently switchable between the working position and the non-working position with each hydraulic cylinder 17x. Accordingly, the consumption of air is reduced and the operation speed of the loom is increased compared with conventional loom in which a pair of leading levers 14a, 14b are pushed with a single common air cylinder.
