PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst suitable for a continuous fixed bed, superior in energy efficiency and alkene conversion, and capable of manufacturing a high branching isoalkane in a good yield by bringing a plurality of specified compounds into contact with a silicon oxide or the like, also bringing water and water vapor into contact with them and then burning them at a specified temperature. SOLUTION: First, a compound represented by R1aME(OR2)z-m is brought into contact with a silicon oxide and/or an aluminum oxide. (R1 and R2 each represent a 1-12C hydrocarbon, Me represents Zr or Ti and Z represents the number of values of Me, and (m) represents O<=M<=Z. Then, water or water vapor is brought into contact with the oxide. Then, a compound having a (c) sulfate group and/or a compound having sulfone is brought into contact with the silicon oxide and/or the aluminum oxide and then burnt ion the temperature range of 100-400 deg.C to prepare the catalyst. As for the isoalkane alkylating method, the isoalkane is reacted with alkene under the presence of the catalyst thus manufactured. |
