PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mount the same kind of bumper on a variety of vehicles having different mounting positions. SOLUTION: In this bumper construction, rib-like brackets 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b arranged in two of right and left pairs spaced apart by a predetermined interval with bolts or nuts secured thereto are extended in the direction of the vertical width of a bumper main body 1 and fixed on the back face of the bumper main body 1. The bumper construction is bolted to a cross member 8 at the end of a chassis frame 7 by means of second bolt holes 6 via a pair of right and left framed stays 4a, 4b each having first bolt holes 5 corresponding to the positions of the bolts or nuts and second bolt holes 6 corresponding to bolt holes provided in the cross member at the end of the chassis frame, the stays 4a, 4b being opposite to and securely bolted to the two pairs of brackets via the first bolt holes 6 and being independent of the bumper main body 1.
